Würtemberg light infantry and jägers 1809

The light infantry of the kingdom of Württemberg included, in 1809, four battalions.

- Two battalions of light infantry properly so called (the first battalion, von Wolff and the second von Brussell)
- Two battalions of Fussjäger (Chasseurs à pieds): the König battalion and the von Neuffer battalion.

The light ones were distinguished from the blue uniform of the troops of the line by the wearing of uniforms with predominantly green, this color being moreover totally associated with the outfits of the hunters.

In 1809, the light infantry battalions were wearing the shako, replacing the old helmet similar to that of the light horse.

Würtemberg high command 1809

The Army of Württemberg constituted the VIIIth Corps of the Great Army during the 1809 German campaign. The command was entrusted to the French Major General Dominique Vandamme.

The high command

A command card was made to serve me as baggage item because I did not wish to make a tent camp.

The two command pads are not finished. I still have the flags because you still have to buy the tip and the ribbons before sticking the canvas of the flags.

The pamphlet representing General Vandamme is not yet finished.

Würtemberg artillery

The artillery of Württemberg is on the scale of this small kingdom. It consisted of only three batteries (one on foot, two on horseback) plus the deposit items.

The gunners on foot were distinguished from their colleagues mounted by the wearing of white trousers. The crew of the train was dressed like the artillerymen on horseback but replaced the helmet Raupenhelm by the shako.

Foot artillery

My Army of Württemberg has a drums with feet, classified in Cn (not Art) in the extension 1500-1900 of De Bellis Antiquitatis.

Horse artillery

The army contains two batteries of artillery on horseback. I should say "will behave" because I still have to buy them and, therefore, to paint them. ^^

Würtemberg cavalry 1809

The Württemberg cavalry regiments were organized into four squadrons each (plus a depot squadron). These were light cavalry units (two chevau-legers regiments and two regiments of chasseurs à cheval.)

My army had only one regiment of chasseurs (for reasons of number of bases) and the two regiments of chevau-legers.

It was partly the uniform of the light horse which prompted me to choose the Würtembergeois when I sought to constitute an army of the Napoleonic era.

Kingdom of Würtemberg, 1809

This is my Army of the Kingdom of Württemberg for the Napoleonic period. I chose the German campaign in 1809 in spite of a choice of troops less varied and therefore less interesting, simply because I had a preference for the uniforms of that time compared to those of the later period (1812-1813 )

The troops correspond to the categories of the DBA 1500-1900 extension. On the other hand, in our game group we adapted the depth of some bases in order to obtain a visual that satisfied us more.

The battle order does not pretend to reproduce a precise battle but generally respects the Württemberg OdBs during this epic. The regiments represented were chosen not for their presence at a particular battle but to vary the colors of the bouncing.

Mousketeers and grenadiers

The distinctive colors of the regiments are different according to the reference works. Since it is necessary to decide and I am not a specialist in Napoleonic uniformology, I have opted for the distinctive ce lien.
